Perhaps I’ve lost my muse. To where or what I have no idea. But when I’m not stressed or abused or in imminent
peril, my muse just ups and leaves me. She only likes confusion and despair I suppose.
And this is all so cliché. This writing about a lost muse. This losing her to sanity and a grip on life.
And it’s a shame really. That she doesn’t stick around when times are good. When things are just normal and boring
and sane. Because it’s not bad here. Here where people eat whole meals and sleep through the night and take time
to eat candied orange slices and take road trips for no reason. You would think she’d find comfort and inspiration
in those. In students who are kind and sweet and engaged as much as the ones who are jaded and spent and angst
ridden. In a job where you can be successful instead of the ones where you’re constantly left unfinished, unhappy
and undone.
She’s a masochist. My muse.
She’s gone to find pain and destruction elsewhere.
She’ll be back.
