This is a Story of love and hate. It’s about two Women who have the courage to fight the homophobic influences that surround us. Warning! There is adult content in this Story. This Story contains depictions of violence directed toward Women.

Amy woke up to bright hospital lights. Blinking her eyes against the glare, she looked around the room. Amy had no idea what time it was or even what day it was. A nurse came in and checked her IV.

“How are you feeling?” She asked.

“Like shit!” Amy was bluntly honest.

The nurse left to get her some pain medication. Amy reached out to the phone; she wanted to call Jessica. A searing bolt of pain stopped her. Amy gasped for breath and yelled out in agony.

The nurse gave her an injection of Demerol and put her oxygen back on. “Try and relax, and let the medication work.”

Soon Amy was feeling buzzed, she drifted into a dream like state. Not really caring about anything at that moment.

Jessica came to visit. She sat in the chair by Amy’s bed, not daring to disturb her. Paige was at the nurse’s station signing autographs and getting her picture taken. Security guards now accompanied them around the clock. Kevin had insisted on that.

“How is she?” Paige asked as she entered the room.

Jessica whispered. “She’s still asleep and I don’t want to wake her.”

Paige put a huge bouquet of roses and balloons down on the table. “No offence but I can’t sit around here all day. Hospitals give me the creeps.”

“No one is asking you to stay.” Jessica said coolly.

“Hey … you don’t need to get hostile. I’m just bored.”

“Look Paige, I’m worried sick about Amy. I need to be here with her, so I don’t have time to entertain you.”

“Oh, its all Kevin’s fault anyway! He won’t let me go out and have fun. Then today he tells me he is leaving town to take care of some business.”

Jessica wearily shook her head. “When are you going to understand that life isn’t just about you?”

Paige sat down on a chair. “Jessica you know me better than anyone else. I have always been insecure. That’s why I need constant reassurance.”

“It wouldn’t hurt if you started thinking about other people’s feelings instead of yours all the time.”

“Look, I know I’m screwed up! But my shrink says I’m making progress.” Paige grinned.

“I honestly don’t know how Kevin puts up with you!”

Paige stayed for another hour then headed back to the Bellagio. Jessica called information to get the phone number of Amy’s mother. Then she gave her a call.

“Hello, is this Mrs. Thompson?”

“Yes.”

“My name is Jessica and I’m a friend of Amy’s …”

The woman interrupted her. “I don’t want to talk to you.”

“Amy has been hurt and she’s in the hospital.” Jessica tried to explain.

“I know all about the shooting. It was on the news.”

Jessica couldn’t understand her cold attitude. “Amy needs you right now.”

“Well, I need Amy to give up her ridiculous lifestyle. I warned her it would cause her nothing but trouble!”

“She’s your daughter, don’t you care about her at all?”

“Don’t talk to me like that! I know you are one of THOSE people too!” The woman’s high-pitched voice shrieked into the phone.

“I love Amy with all my heart. Sorry if that bothers you, but she is my soul mate and we belong together!”

“I can not accept that!” Mrs. Thompson slammed the phone down.

Jessica heard Amy laughing. She glanced at her friend. Amy struggled to sit up and Jessica rushed over to help her.

“I guess I should have warned you that calling my mother would be a waste of time!”

“Oh Amy, I’m so sorry.” Jessica was visibly shaken.

“You can’t expect much from a woman who blindly follows a church that protects and hides child molesters. Yet that same church condemns lesbians who love each other and want to be married.”

“Try not to get upset. It isn’t worth it.”

Amy wanted to change the subject. “Thank you for the flowers and balloons. Those roses are absolutely gorgeous.”

“ Paige and I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday!”

“I don’t know what’s worse. Getting shot or getting older!”

“Oh shut up!” Jessica cried. “I am just so happy and thankful that you are all right.”

“You know it won’t hurt if you gave me a hug and a kiss.”

Jessica leaned over and kissed Amy softly on the lips. “I love you.” She fastened a gold chain with an emerald pendant around Amy’s neck. “Happy Birthday sweetie.”

“Mmm … I can’t wait to get out of here.” Amy leaned back onto her pillows. Her face was pale. “Jess, could you get the nurse?” Her voice was soft and low. “I need something for pain.”

Jessica rushed out to the nurse’s station and frantically called out for help. The nurse went in to check on Amy and gave her another injection of Demerol. She looked at Jessica with concern in her eyes. “Why don’t you get something to eat? Amy will be sleeping for awhile now.”

“What if she wakes up and needs me?”

“You need to take care of yourself. We’re here around the clock, we will take good care of Amy.”

“I know … I know … it’s just that I feel like I’m abandoning her.”

“You can call when ever you want. My name is Linda, just ask for me. I’ll let you know if there are any changes in her condition.”

“Thanks Linda.” Jessica let the security guard drive her back to the hotel.

Meanwhile in Phoenix, Kevin and a group of armed men surrounded a large white building. Painted on the side was the Church of The Righteous Believers. Kevin checked his 9mm handgun. It was fully loaded; he clicked the safety off. Kevin signaled for the men to stay put, then he walked into the building.

Trapped like rats in a cage were the Reverend Fakier and Congressman Crookston.

Kevin grinned at them but there was no warmth in his eyes. “Hello Gentlemen. I think we need to talk.”

“Good God man, you can’t bring a gun in here!” The Reverend protested loudly. “This is a church!”

Kevin nodded to the Congressman. “It’s been a long time Phil. My father sends his regards.”

The Congressman turned pale and took a step back. “What are you doing here?”

“I’m giving you a choice.” Kevin glared at the men. “One of you is going to jail for attempted murder. The other one is going to become a champion for gay rights. You have five minutes to decide.”

The Reverend snarled. “You’re bluffing! You have no proof we were involved in that shooting.”

“I don’t need proof.” Kevin said calmly. “Congressman, you know me, you know my family. You might warn your friend not to be stupid.”

Congressman Crookston stammered nervously. “I had nothing to do with the shooting. It was all his idea.”

“You lying bastard!” The Reverend screamed. “You paid me to drive those women out of the valley!”

“Shut up!” Kevin growled. “You make me sick! You hide behind your bibles, churches and crosses but you don’t know a fucking thing about being a Christian.”

The Reverend Fakier stroked the solid gold cross that hung about his neck. “I am a man of God and I am doing his will.”

“Bullshit! You’re nothing but an ignorant bigot waving a bible.”

“I live by God’s word.”

“And God tells you to shoot people?”

The Reverend snickered. “We only shoot Fags!”

Kevin had to hold back his anger. At this point he felt like shooting the Reverend himself. Instead he took out a microphone that had been hidden in his pocket. “Did you copy all of that Detective Garcia?” He asked.

“Oh yes.” Stated the Detective. “It came in loud and clear.”

Soon the Congressman and the Reverend were handcuffed and put in separate police cars. Detective Garcia shook Kevin’s hand. “Thanks for your help.”

“Just make sure those two stay in jail for a long time.”

“We can only try. You never know what a jury will do.”

Kevin walked over to the Congressman. “What do you know about the R&J Reality Company?”

“I’m not talking to you.”

“Maybe your partners will be interested; especially when I tell them that you have been embezzling funds.”

“They’ll kill me.”

“Yeah, that’s kind of the idea.”

The Congressman whined loudly. “Did you hear that? He is threatening me!”

“I didn’t hear a thing!” Detective Garcia smiled and then drove off. A long line of police cars followed him.

At the hospital Amy was having strange dreams. She had an intense feeling she was alone, drifting at sea. Surrounded by fog, she kept yelling for Jessica but no one answered. Amy sobbed into her pillow, she felt like her heart was breaking. Damn she didn’t want to be alone anymore.

Jessica was downstairs in the gift shop, buying a cute stuffed bear for Amy. She had taken a break and gotten something to eat in the cafeteria. Hospital food wasn’t the greatest but at least she felt better now. When she got back to the room, Jessica was shocked to see Amy crying. Amy was tough and not prone to crying so Jessica knew it had to be the medicine affecting her.

Amy looked up at Jessica with tears in her eyes. “I have had the most awful dreams.”

“Oh baby, I’m sorry. But you know they aren’t real.”

“I’m afraid.” Amy started crying again.

Jessica handed her the bear. “Look, I got you a present. Everyone should have a soft teddy bear to hug.”

“You’re going to leave me.”

“Oh no I’m not!” Stated Jessica firmly.

“In my dream you did. You went back to Paige.”

“Amy you are being ridiculous!”

“She still loves you.”

“Yeah, well I love you. I need you in my life and I’m not giving you up.”

Amy fell back asleep. It was hard for Jessica to see her friend break down. She couldn’t wait until Amy was well enough to go home. Even though the nurses were great, hospitals were a depressing place to be. Linda came in the room to check on Amy.

“She’s having nightmares.” Said Jessica.

“That’s not unusual. Amy has been through a lot and she’s going to be emotionally fragile for a while. You need to be patient with her.”

Amy slept for hours. Jessica started to read a book but she just couldn’t concentrate. She paced restlessly around the room, and then she went out to the nurse’s station.

“Hi Linda, don’t you ever go home?”

“Right now we are very short handed so I have to work mandatory overtime.”

“Can you tell me when the doctor is going to see Amy?”

Linda was instantly concerned. “Is there something wrong?”

“No, I just want to know how long she has to stay here.”

“Well as soon as she starts eating and drinking properly we can take the IV out. Amy doesn’t need her oxygen anymore. She’s getting stronger everyday so it won’t be much longer.” Linda put her arm around Jessica and tried to reassure her.

Jessica noticed that Linda had a multicolored bracelet on her wrist; with all the colors of the rainbow. “Tell me something … are you what we call family?”

Linda smiled brightly. “Yes, my girlfriend is a doctor here in the hospital.”

“Well, that makes me feel better. Maybe your girlfriend could take a look at Amy?”

Linda just laughed. “She’s an OB doctor. Are you and Amy are planning on getting pregnant?”

“No … not right now! I just want to get Amy home and then I’m going to spoil her rotten.”

Paige came up to the nurse’s station. Instantly the medical staff crowded around her, Paige loved all the attention. Jessica smiled at her friend. “I thought you hated hospitals.”

“Well I do, but I had to see how sleeping beauty was doing. Since you wouldn’t call me, I had to come over here!”

“Amy’s still is sleeping. But I am kind of worried about the bad dreams she has been having.”

“She needs to come home. I’ll hire private nurses, physical therapists … whatever it takes!” Paige said dramatically.

“I’m not sure she wants to see you right now.”

“What do you mean?”

“Amy thinks I’m going to leave her and go back to you.”

“Oh, she’s just depressed. I’ll go talk to her.” Jessica tried to stop her, but Paige pushed her aside and entered Amy’s room.

One of the things Paige excelled at was charming people. She knew exactly what to say and how to win people over. Paige gently scolded Amy, and told her not to dwell on the past and that she did love Jessica but only as a friend.

Amy was embarrassed. “Jessica shouldn’t have told you what I said.”

“Well, it was bothering her and she needed someone to talk to. Paige’s voice was full of regret. “In all the time we spent together Jess never lied to me or cheated on me. I was the one who did that.”

“Why?” Amy asked softly.

“I couldn’t adjust to being with one person. I was hurting Jessica but I couldn’t help it. No that’s not true! I was selfish and just didn’t care.” Paige sobbed. “I will always regret what I did and that’s the truth.”

“I was afraid to learn the truth.”

“Umm … I can understand that. I’ve been running from the truth my whole life.” Paige walked over to the window. “It’s starting to rain.”

“Where is Kevin?”

“Oh he is off playing super hero.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, Kevin and Detective Garcia have been arresting everybody involved with that crazy church group in Phoenix.”

Amy was excited. “So its safe to go home?”

At that moment the phone rang and Paige picked it up. “Oh hello, Detective Garcia, yes she’s right here.” Paige handed the phone to Amy.

“We got lucky, the Congressman is going to testify against Reverend Fakier.” The detective explained. “But several of the women he harassed refuse to press charges. I just want to know if you and Jessica are still willing to testify.”

“Hell yes!” Amy yelled into the phone. “I want those bastards in jail for a long time.”

“Good! If you two stand strong I can pretty much guarantee that these idiots won’t bother you again.” Detective Garcia said with great enthusiasm. “Take care of yourself. Bye.”

Jessica came into the room carrying a food tray. She took the plastic lid off of the plate and put the tray on Amy’s bedside table. “No more talking, you need to eat.”

Amy wrinkled her nose at the sight of the hospital food. “I can’t eat this stuff. I’m going to scream if they serve me any more green Jell-O.”

“They won’t let you leave if you don’t start eating properly.”

“Okay … okay … I’ll eat it but I feel like I’m being poisoned.”

“You have been hanging around Paige too much. You’re turning into a drama queen.”

Paige laughed. “Hey, I resent that!” She leaned over and kissed Amy on the forehead. “Get well beautiful.” Paige closed the door on her way out.

“Finally some peace and quiet.” Jessica started arranging the flowers in Amy’s room. Outside the rain pounded on the roof, the thunder boomed and lightening flashed across the sky.

“Jess, I love you.” Amy whispered softly.

Jessica sat down on Amy’s bed and kissed her soft, warm lips. “My heart belongs to you.” She stared seriously into Amy’s eyes. “I will never, ever leave you.”

“I’m sorry that I acted like such an idiot.”

“It wasn’t all your fault, part of it was that damn Demerol.” Jessica held on to Amy’s hand. “You aren’t the only one who has been having wild dreams. This thunderstorm reminds me of one I had.”

Amy perked up instantly. “Oh I want to hear all about it!”

“Well … we are on a picnic out in the country. In the middle of this lush green field, no one around but some noisy cows and us. Then it starts to rain, but it’s a warm gentle rain. Soothing to the skin. You are wearing a thin white t shirt, and I can see your nipples pressing against the wet cloth.”

Amy groaned. “You are making me all wet, no doubt about that!”

“I rip off your shirt and fondle your gorgeous breasts, then I suck your nipples vigorously, first one then the other. You lie back onto our blanket. I unzip your jeans shorts and take them off. I’m kissing your tummy while I massage your sweet pussy. My fingers slid into your warm, wet vagina. You shudder as I rub you harder and harder.”

“Oh God … Jess … I’m so hot and bothered right now.” Amy moaned with delight.

“The rain is really pouring now, but we don’t notice it. I am so turned on by the sight of your delicious pussy, that I can’t wait to taste you. I flick your clit with my tongue and then suck it into my mouth, where it pulsates against my tongue. Slowly, gently, I press my teeth against your clit and you just explode with passion. Your orgasm is so fierce it takes me by surprise.” While Jessica is relating her story, she slides her hands up Amy’s hospital gown and caresses Amy’s soft breasts.

“Ohhhh … ohhhh … that feels so damn good!” Amy started rubbing her legs together. “Don’t you dare stop now Jessica.”

“I hold firmly onto your hips as I push my tongue deep inside your hot vagina. You frantically rub yourself against my face. Your juices are flowing freely and I drink you in.” Jessica was panting herself by this time.

Suddenly there is a knock at the door. Jessica groans and pulls away from Amy. “Come in.”

Linda peeks into the room. “Sorry to disturb you but the doctor is making rounds and will be here shortly.”

Amy’s face was flushed. “You know if they take my blood pressure right now its bound to be sky high!”

Jessica laughed. “Be good, I want to get you out of here!”

“Are you going to give me a rain check on that story?”

“Uh … huh … and just remember one day soon we will be going on that picnic!”

“I can’t wait!”

Amy wanted to talk to her doctor alone so Jessica left the room smiling. Linda grinned at her knowingly. Jessica waved and went downstairs to get Amy her favorite chocolate milk shake. Jessica sure looked forward to making their dreams come true. It wouldn’t be long now.
