There is such beauty in a rose
In each petal as it unfolds
And the fragrance from the blossom
Oh such memories it holds
In the softness there unfolding
Opening up to the greet the day
In the richness of the colors
"I am Beauty" it seems to say
If not for the thorns that grow there
Beneath the beauty on the stem
One might dare caress the flowers
And long to lie in the bed with them
Yet each thorn is sharp and causes pain
As I close in to pick
"Draw back, take caution" is the warning
As my finger it does prick
Blood now drips down thumb and finger
Salty tears develop from the pain
Why did I not see it coming?
Was I so blind to love again?
But so tenderly it beckons
Stop awhile and hear its cries
Yes there is beauty in the rose
But we must first open our eyes
Oh Woman I hear you call to me.
Your message it rides on the wind.
Your soft voice sings a melody.
I scarce can take it in.
And lying in your arms I find the peace that I have longed for,
listening to your breathing soft and low.
And I can hear your heart it sings the song that I’ve searched for.
I’m coming home to you, I’m coming home.
Love is here all around me.
Filling me, making me whole.
Oh, how your sweetness surrounds me,
Touching the depths of my soul.
And lying in your arms I find the peace that I have longed for,
listening to your breathing soft and low.
And I can hear your heart it sings the song that I’ve searched for.
I’m coming home to you. I’m coming home to you.
I’m coming home to you. I’m coming……home.
I wrote this Poem/song the year I decided not to live a lie anymore. Since then I have taken small steps in
coming out to myself, my friends and family. Though it has not all been pleasant or easy; it is a very good feeling
to finally be learning how to be ME!
