Just a Poem (not reflective)

This was to be the night
when we thought we would
pledge dreams and aspirations
eternal love and the wishes
that bend and blend with the wind
This was to be the start, the seed to be planted
we the water and the sun
This was to be the night Eternal
when we held one another against the world
When we sought inner peace
and came up full handed rich
knocking the air from us
and this was to be the night
when laughter rang, pealed loud
into the star filled sky
This was to be the night you and I married
exchanged written vows that somehow
never were penned
except in the twilight of want
except in the twilight

At the stroke of midnight
I watched the world
from atop my perch
high above the in the crows nest
The people passing by in their sloops
oblivious to my melancholy madness
they sailed by with gaiety and cheer
and how I wished for a fleeting second
to be their with them in all their mirth
But I would rather sit up here
then be on the earth
for up here in my tower I sway
as my ship rides each wave
and in that tidal motion
Ive come to truly love my home the ocean
some call me a pirate or a salt of the sea
but all I know is what I dream
and in those dreams there does pervade
a seemingly happy place to nurture my ways

making easy

Copyright © by Carol Marie, January 3, 2001

making love is
easy
when she opens
her mind
to my constant attentions
dancing horizontally
only brings us pleasure
just need more towels
for comfort
and ease
to start all again
within the confines of heat

Nightmare

Copyright © by Carol Marie, January 5, 2001

Wondering if the sound and fury
was coming from me
or was it only the silhouetted frame
of madness that crept in
stealthily while the world was sleeping

communication

I cant keep hiding behind the
complacency of my smile
sometimes the shortest reach
is the longest mile
but I love her
so we will talk
and wash away
the tears that fell

Memory

Copyright © by Carol Marie, January 8, 2001

Have you ever clung to the sweat
the sweet elixir that brings
you to your knees
Uncontrollable scents that pull
just up under the skin
the way it seems to sink into
The pleasures that abound
every time she moves
while you are deep inside of her

Clinging...to the sultry air of memory
Lost in the scented bliss of wet
Fingertips that glided across skin
  Tingling and sensuous
These are the dreams you leave me with.

Spare Time

Copyright © by Carol Marie, January 15, 2001

Ive got nothing to write
no words that come my way
no thoughts Ive wanted to share
just havent anything to say

seems odd in so many ways
just dont know what to pen
and Ive always shared so much
to all of my writer friends

so I'll just go back to do
whatever it is Ive been doing
and perhaps a time will come
when the right words are worth pursuing

and then I shall send to all of you
some profound thoughts so sublime
that no one shall ever question
what I did with spare time

Society Girls

Copyright © by Carol Marie, January 15, 2001

Just that highbrow look of contempt
thinking she was better
til I raced around in the Benz
and then she thought she could smile
her way into my attentions
but I was just for show
on that particular day
and didnt want to play
with the society girls

I heard one of them remark
something about a tease
and wouldnt she like to know
what I could do on my knees
but I was just for show
in that particular way
and didnt want to play
with those society girls

Into

Copyright © by Carol Marie, January 19, 2001

Into the depths of my own
where liquid reigns freedom
at the touch of her hand
subtle in nature
and yet full of embers that burn
and yearn past the twilight
of memory
where we rocked sweet til dawn
bathed us in the silvery mist of morning
