We spoon, me into you, you into me
snuggling close to share our safety
We jostle our bodies to measure and fit
securely we settle, what a precious gift
Safety is shared and placed on a mantle
Within arms reach this place we can handle
A shared measure of trust positioned so greatly
A shared measure of love that is held so stately
I’m hungry for something sweet, but it ain’t nothing to eat
No, that won’t satisfy my craving, the raging deep inside my soul
The sweetness of love is the taste that eludes my palette
Not someone else’s love, it’s my own love for myself
Way back, when I remember feeling no one loves me
Why should I, so I stopped
Chocolate gives the same response to the body as love
I ain’t hungry for no chocolate, not candy anyway
The bittersweet chocolate that I long for is in my soul
Soul food, self love
A little portion here, a piece there
Can’t have too much, better not feel too good
Somebody might get upset at me for loving myself
So I nibble just enough to sustain me
I’m still hungry though
For something sweet, but it ain’t nothing to eat
