Lonely World

Copyright © by Jenny L. Brown, November 6, 2002

The lonely world
I stare at it's sky
then look upon the sun
and wonder why
so beautiful it is
but cold all the same
like an objective with an unknown game
and if I wander what else I could be
I feel a rose would identify me
but I would have no thorns
and I would stand from the rest
soon to be picked
for I am helpless
I'd be placed in a vase
with some water and care
but to be soon forgotten
as if I weren't there
and the lonely skies
will swim above
no need for this rose
to feel any love
so I will shrivel and die
without even knowing
that I thrived off my tears
and they kept me growing
but in this real world
I open my eyes
It takes more than a day
for me to die.
