A friendship grown strong,
closeness becoming oh so comfortable.
Intimacy developing from time spent together.
I love one and she loves another,
yet our passion is there for each other.
I know its not love, but what do I see,
deep in her eyes as we become contemplating lovers
in my back seat.
Our bodies illuminated by the dash clock light.
Our need driven by the radio's sweet melodies.
Do I want her passion,
or is the wine leading this path of exploration,
carrying with it all doubt and concerns I had before.
Somewhere in the distance,
I hear myself saying don't do this you have a lover,
But as she takes me in deeper,
I lose all train of thought,
my only destination is the path of her body,
leading me further into the heat of the night.
I know it is wrong,
but how it feels so right,
Our bodies rise and fall together as our
passion begins to subside.
Our night ends as the morning sky threatens to rise.
We each return to our sleeping lovers and our normal lives.
Trying to lock our secret deep inside.
Our friendship has become weak,
closeness to uncomfortable to bear.
Our raging intimacy smolders cool with each passing moment.
Yet still there are times when our eyes meet briefly
and we hold each others gaze.
I can still feel the passion and it burns my skin
igniting a fire that I know she will never again put out.
Months have passed,
but I still can't help feeling that she took me some place
that I have never been before that night in the back seat
illuminated by the dash clock light.
Some place I surely will never return to again.
