I used to dread the contemplation of my sanctification and believed this whole damn nation was going to hell. And like a parasite, the preacher's words, with a grip so tight, flooded my mind telling me to fight. Fight the sinners, fight the saints, fight your flesh with Holy Hate. Give me at least 10 percent of what you make, maybe a little more and consider it a blessing to live with the dying and poor. God bless. Have a nice night and enjoy the daily bump and grind of trying to make ends meet just to keep shoes on your kids feet. But pray for me and mine as we'll be flying out to Arkansas to meet the in-laws this week. The Sabbath rolls 'round again and the preacher is fiery as he talks about the wages of sin. Silently ignoring the fact that he is a glutton behind the pulpit, he hisses, this is the long and short of it: We live in a Godless time and this God-forsaken nation we must look to see what's bringing this degradation to our society. It's not the money nor the alcoholics. It's them liberals and their damned politics. Equal rights and reparations and faggots; now thats an abomination! God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. That's what ya'll should believe. Damn man if you're a homosexual, that's a disease and infectious, but don't worry about the oppression they bring because they'll pay the price of their sin in their own skin. One by one they'll drop to their knee in a plea for release from this punishment God calls HIV. At that moment in time I put to practice what the bastard was saying. With my blood racing, I rose to my feet. And as his eyes met mine, he glared at me as if I put his life in jeopardy because I had leprosy, or as I guess they say in modern times thats HIV. Saddened by his ignorance and sickened from his bigotry, my stomach lurched and I never looked back as I left that church.
