Too Much

Copyright © by ShalaDee, August 2004

If I held your hand,
tried to make you understand,
would you refuse my touch,
would that be too much.

If I said I love you,
even if you never do,
would you see it as such,
or would that be too much.

It can’t be too much for me,
even if loving you can never be.
Your smile sets my heart free,
though you’re not smiling for me.
And if today was the last I ever saw of you,
it would be just enough,
but I can’t get too much of you.

If I found magic dust,
that would make you want to trust
that you could love me just as much as I do you,
would that be too much.

It can’t be too much for me,
even if loving you can never be.
Your smile sets my heart free
though you’re not smiling for me.
And if today was the last I ever saw of you,
it would be just enough,
but I can’t get too much of you.

Touch Me

Copyright © by ShalaDee, November 2004

When it comes to love
I’ve never been very smart
and it shows, I know it shows.
Because with just one look
you can envelope my heart
and I think you know,
how could you not know.

You can touch me without even trying
Your eyes soothe me there’s no lying
I have no cares
When you’re there
Cause you can touch me anywhere.

Come on come on
come on and touch me
from across a crowded room
Come on and touch me
even through the phone
We may never be lovers
this I know deep in my bones
But please just touch me,
and in my fantasy affair
I’ll pretend you’re touching me
anywhere.

We may never be lovers
this I know deep in my bones
But please just touch me
and in my fantasy affair
I’ll pretend you’re touching me
everywhere.

A Dance in the Rain

Where the wind blows in the high oak trees, that is where I find your spirit.
How the sun makes rainbows in the morning’s dew, that is how your eyes shine.
In the quiet of the night, when all I can hear is my heartbeat, that is when I hear your voice.
In the cool of the deep wood, where every sunbeam that penetrates is a gift, that is where I find your soul.
In bare feet on wet grass, that is when I see your smile.
How the stream makes its music as it tumbles over stone, that is how I hear your laughter.
In the gentle sway of the reeds and cattails at the edge of a pond, that is where you reside within me.
The sweet rain that falls on my upturned face, causes me to shed my clothing and stand naked, arms outstretched to have it wash over me and into me, this is how I feel your love.

Beauty in the Beast

You peach, sweet as honey, leave me drunk and raw, near death.

But I eat bare lust in a symphony of sea pink, to swim the storming flood of want, repulsive in its beauty, and bitter on my tongue.

And then, when the moon incubates with need, smelling like lazy spring,
visions cry and dreams soar.

Dream Pose

Copyright © by ShalaDee, April 2002

Watch as they dream, sleep soft lips press to the hollow of a throat, arm and leg are drawn casually over and cuddled into as if they were a down comforter. There, fingers lightly stroke around a rising, falling breast, slide across a silky thigh. See the small smile flit playfully over lips and hear the sigh that escapes from that world into this one. Remembering maybe the passion scarcely past, one, half wakes and turns into the other to feel the breath and life of love. They turn now together and soft belly to back, slip into another pose of sated bliss. God and ancestor watch, and glory in the pleasure shown in these lovers. Love, for the soul’s own growing, for the soul’s own knowing. How perfect they are, these dreaming babes, wrapped in the warmth of life’s sweet kiss.

How to Tell You

Copyright © by ShalaDee, March 2003

What if somebody said to you “I love you and I love you feeling it. And I love feeling you love me, all moments of every day. And you are welcomed in me.”

What if they said instead “I want to take a two week vacation. The first week I want to spend with you flat on your back. I’m sorry I won’t be available for the second week, but I’ll be in traction.”

Or what if they told you how the smell of your skin made them ache inside, quiver outside, and have difficulty thinking.

How about if a woman were to say to you, “I think every curve of your body needs my personal attention…I’m free now and later, does that work for you?”

What if a good friend of yours were to cook a romantic dinner and gave you a foot massage while you talked and cuddled into the night.

Well how would you like it if I were to tell you, “you are the only one I dream of, my dear beautiful woman.”

Now…how to tell you….

Midnight Mass

Cloak and dagger,
dungeon too,
feral night,
and mornings dew.

Arms held tight,
lash of death,
of age and might,
of depth and breadth.

No quarter given,
Impassioned plea,
Life ripped and driven,
from inside me.

Days of wails
river of tears,
I close my heart,
cut off my ears.

When in your eyes,
my own eyes see,
the me in you,
the you in me.

In supplication,
I repent,
forgiving arms,
are heaven sent.

In The Black and White of Night

You make love like a black panther walking through the wood. Connected, aware and alert and also at ease, with a powerfully long slow stride. Two hours after technically leaving your arms, I feel you reach out, and I meet you and we’re touching again. The only thought that can even fleetingly creep in is thank you God, in you, in me.

Goddess

I am cradled to her breast,
she is the home I have found to return to.
I am bathed in the sweet wine of her womb
and born away on her wind whispering breath.
She is in me now, gives rhythm to my limbs,
song for my ears to hear, my heart to sing.
May she bless me,
and again on my knees I ask tenderly.
May I be granted permission to enter into the mystery,
and again on my knees I ask forgiveness.
May life spring forth from me,
and again on my knees I ask to taste the waters
so that I may flow, again, and again.
May I find the spirit of you,
know you, always know you. Always and again.
I have a sister. She cries and I cry.
She aches and again, on my knees I beg forgiveness for her.
May the moon shine on her fluttering eyelashes,
sleeping gently there, in my empty arms,
and again on my knees...

From myself to myself
From all women to all women
regardless of relationship be it
sister, mother, grandmother, daughter or lover.
I write also of our Grandmother Earth.
May we always know her deeply.

Keeping The Fire

A sister of mine, waiting, watching
honoring of heart and soul and breath,
holds me, touches me, feels me, heals me.
She, with patient, loving trust, shows how
I can heal myself.

A sister in time, friendship sought, is
given, gifted guidance playfully lent, a kind
criticism lovingly applied, bestows courage
and freedom upon my fledgling soul.

She who is mournfully aware of my pain,
triumphantly supportive of my struggle,
ecstatically joyful of my love and light.
Sister who shares, takes communion with all of me,
all of me thanks all of you, sweet sister.
