The Lover Series: Her

The purple petals of my sweet friend
Drenched in perfume
Butterfly love invading
Drowning in beauty
I stare

I can only stare
My heart touching
Her curves
Her skin
Silk is no comparison
I dream

I can only dream
The color of her eyes
The flirt of her hair
The moon is no match
I love

I can only love
With my being
Undone
Undressed
Unaware
She’s not there
But I still love…

The Lover Series: My Marigold

The bed is set
White sheets glued to the mattress
Dress hanging on the door
Hands that heal
So strong

She’s done
Smiles politely and washes her hands
Oil caressing her fingers
Intertwined under the water,
I wish I could mingle with her brown skin
So gently she walks away

My body left to shiver
Burning with the need of her touch
Come back, I want to say
Stroke me as you would a lover
I want to feel your true self

Don’t heal me, curse me with the kiss of your love
I will suffer every moment
I will weep but I will be touched as your woman
And never will I forget
The last breath we share together
On a bed of marigolds.

The Lover Series: Mad

Last time you looked into my eyes
You confessed
First time you looked into my eyes
You wondered
Now I stare at a memory of you
I miss you.

We only knew each other like two animals
With souls lost deep into our bodies
But we never cared for the emptiness that ate us apart
Because life felt too short for details
Too long for the pain of regrets

Until I met you I had only known the touch of the desert sand
The mountain that rose in silence only listening,
Breathing the dry deathly heat

I felt the hunger only when I tasted your strawberry hair
Nibbled on your freckles
And teased the melancholy of your emerald eyes

The sounds of your pleasure made me tremble
The smallness of life is all I knew
until I lost myself in the part between your thighs
the sound of your beating heart
your warm breath on my neck.

The cruelty of life doesn’t scare me
Just the thought of you lost
In the madness that held you tight
And I tried to let you breathe,
But only for a short time.

The Letters To Women Series: Request

The universe caressed my hair with a warm breath of roses
and told me to listen with my soul...

I was drunk with its scent,
my hands out,
my body spinning as the petals rained over and gently spoke to me
in a secret language,
their redness matching my thrusting lips,
I listened and fell under their spell...

The Letters To Women Series: Apologies

Copyright © by Sophia Phlox, July 5, 2011

apologies as time slips through my fingers
like the dancing sardines in the Mediterranean,
the world inside truer than the touch of the tired highway,
the screams of reality awaken my eyes,
i lift the languid body with the kiss of your words

The Letters To Women Series: Words

Copyright © by Sophia Phlox, July 5, 2011

you ask of me to speak as my words slip into the deepest sleep,
laying with the agonizing dreams,
the mistress of my nightmares,
holding a watch over the cold porcelain of my trembling skin.
drops of love entering, the sound of leaves disturbed by the soft bony feet.
a tunnel, a birth canal, an entrance to the end and an exit from the beginning,
the walls shiver,
they cough and laugh, the cool air of its mouth penetrating deep into the brilliant eyes,
the supple skin of the goddess lets all believe she will love and touch,
with scents of a thousand humid nights
smoothing over the creases of the resilient pain,
a butterfly awakes me…

The Letters To Women Series: Surrendering

Copyright © by Sophia Phlox, July 5, 2011

Im sorry I disappeared,
the wind swept my mind into the cozy corners of safety and elusive comfort,
but my body wants to surrender
to the strongest urges of the heat
that's tiring out the toughest walls of my being...

The Letters To Women Series: Console me

Copyright © by Sophia Phlox, July 5, 2011

Ahhh, I'm drowning in my own words,
so many of them knitting together in a silk fabric
that’s been wrapped tight around my neck.
I ask them to free themselves
but they need to hold on to feel the presence of warm blood
and the rhythmic pounding of my pulse.
so kind and fierce you are to ask,
to let the fabric slide between your fingers,
caressing the purple skin of my bruised neck,
stroking thru my bones and into my raw heart,
letting me breathe even if for just a moment...

The Letters To Women Series: The rose who loves a butterfly

Copyright © by Sophia Phlox, July 5, 2011

I am ok,
ok as the rose who loves a butterfly,
so in love her petals sing and cry in melancholy,
tired of the pendant sun it asks for water,
but alone she stands in the mosquito desert.
She likes to think of herself as colorful,
but as white as a ghost she dances down the river.
She misses the song of the sea sirens who dream of her scent
and the flirt of her stem,
so she decides to lose herself in the little mad world she drew in the sand.

Your beautiful words penetrate my being like the dripping potion of the magic goddess...

The Letters To Women Series: Good-bye

Copyright © by Sophia Phlox, July 5, 2011

The sky so wildly,
inviting us to whisper the warm winds of the distant sea,
tragedies cried and comedies laughed,
the sound of breath so deep in passion.
It all unravels as minutes fall off the pensive clock,
solemnly resting on the tired brow amidst the windows of the archaic spirit.
The spirit of the small loves we know,
the spirit that falls away when eyes stop dreaming, and waterfalls stop crying
and butterflies stop flying.

I think I might have missed an invitation from you the other day,
I often disappear from my computer and into the maze of time,
often leaving pages open with no one to read them
but the silence that feeds…
