Take it...the words echoed in Jordan's head. Two words and every cell of her body was on fire. Jordan didn't
know how long she was staring before she realize she'd looked over every inch of Riley's lightly bronzed skin.
“I'm sorry, I'm staring.”
“Look all you want, I don't mind.” At the sound of Riley's voice Jordan some how managed to make it back to Riley's
eyes. Eyes that clearly expressed what she wanted and it was impossible for Jordan to look away. It was even more
impossible to deny Riley. Jordan leaned forward and grabbed Riley by her slender, but curvy waist and drew her
forward and down. Riley let herself be poised above Jordan's lap. She was not at all self conscious and Jordan
found it to be liberating to witness. In her own liberation she found her hands wandering the expanse of Riley's
back and down her backside as she bent her head and kissed Riley's almost flat stomach trailing kisses as far down
as she could reach and then back up until she found her way back to Riley's lips. She paused and stared into a
sea green before she slipped her fingers into Riley's wetness.
Riley's eyes rolled back and then closed as she dipped her head forward and kissed Jordan aggressively while rocking
her hips to the beckoning of Jordan's fingers. Riley's hands went from gripping Jordan's face to gripping her shoulders
as Jordan tested and teased Riley from the inside out. Riley pawed at Jordan's shirt attempting to lift it, but
Jordan drove her fingers deeper and curled them the slightest bit causing Riley to forget about the shirt and toss
her head back to release delicious sounding moans that drove Jordan mad. A few more of those and Jordan was positive
Riley could send her to the brink of no return without having ever even really touched her. A brink that Jordan
was diligent to bring Riley to repeatedly without pushing her over, mainly because of her own selfish need to stay
buried inside Riley's warmth. Riley hugged Jordan's face to her chest in a desperate need to stay anchored to Jordan's
fingertips. Riley let herself fall further into the chaos of emotions and passion she was experiencing as Jordan
fought for some semblance of control within herself.
They were two women physically feeling the same pleasurable things, but emotionally reacting very differently.
Riley let herself feel everywhere, every way and in anyway that felt natural and right. Jordan on the other hand
fought everything every which way she could because never had she allowed herself to be emotionally involved. For
her it had always just been sex, but with one delicious taste of Riley, Jordan knew she could make love to this
woman for the rest of her life and that scared the absolute hell out of her. Without thinking she let her fingers
slip from Riley.
Riley felt the loss immediately and desperately wanted Jordan back inside her.
“Don't tease, please.”
She could barely open her pleasure heavy lids to look at Jordan, but when she did; she didn't like what she saw.
Jordan looked absolutely panic stricken. Her own body was still humming with need, but she knew she couldn't be
selfish.
“Jordan, baby, what's wrong?”
When Jordan wouldn't look at her Riley tried to cradle Jordan’s face and make her face her, but Jordan resisted.
Jordan squeezed her eyes shut and pressed her bead back into the couch trying to keep everything from spinning.
Jordan was about to lose it as Riley stroked her hair. So soft, so sweet, so selflessly. There was a genuine concern
in Riley's touch that Jordan hadn't felt since before her mother died. Her mom used to stroke her hair like that
when she tucked her in each night. Jordan stilled Riley's hand with her own, but didn't push it away or release
it. Instead she brought it to her lips and kissed it gently.
Riley couldn't figure out what was going on with Jordan, but her instincts said don't push her. Riley felt as helpless
as her body felt frustrated, but she pushed both sensations from her mind and just tried to concentrate on Jordan.
“I should go.”
Riley was glad Jordan spoke but she certainly didn't like hearing what she had to say and she wasn't shy in voicing
that.
“I don't think so.”
Jordan tried to move Riley off her lap, but she wouldn't budge. Any other night Jordan would have been more then
happy to be trapped beneath a naked woman, but not tonight.
“Look Riley, I need to go.”
“Look Jordan, I don't know what is going on with you, but what you need to do is stay. It's obvious you shouldn't
be alone so your not going anywhere whether you like it or not.”
Jordan finally looked into Riley's eyes and saw blatant determination. Jordan knew she wasn't going anywhere even
if she wanted to.
Riley could sense when Jordan gave up and at that moment Riley stood, still not bashful that she was naked, and
led Jordan down the hall.
Before they made it to Riley's room Jordan dug her heels into the ground.
“I can just sleep on the couch, Riley.”
Riley glance over her shoulder, “Absolutely not.” When Jordan still wouldn't move Riley turned to face her.
“I don't expect anything from you Jordan. Now, we are going to go in there and we are going to crawl into my bed
and we are going to sleep. Riley took a couple steps backwards to her doorway and Jordan followed.

Jordan sat on the edge of Riley's bed hesitantly with Riley standing in front of her. For a brief moment Jordan
wanted to pick up where they left off, but Riley kept to her word.
“I am going to go wash up, okay??”
Riley walked towards the bathroom door. She turned and looked at Jordan with the bathroom light illuminating around
her.
“I'm not going anywhere.”
Riley smiled a sweet smile and walked back towards Jordan secretly wishing that the words she'd just heard were
true. Riley bent slightly to give Jordan a barely there kiss.
Jordan could hear the water run and knew that if she really wanted to she could leave. She knew she should leave,
but with everything in her she also knew she didn't want to leave. Instead she stood and wandered around the room
getting a glimpse into Riley without having to ask a thing. Jordan could see that the room was a bit of a mess
with clothing here and there, but she'd bet that it was an organized chaos somehow. Riley seemed too decisive to
be simply messy. She seemed like a woman who put things only where she wanted. On the dresser were pictures of
Riley with her mom. Jordan picked one up and studied it. Mother and daughter looked physically different, but the
inner beauty that shined through was definitely the same. There was something in Riley that lit up the picture
just like she seemed to light up a room and she definitely could light Jordan up. Jordan heard the water turn off.
She set the picture down more abruptly then she meant to. She nervously put her hands into her pocket and there
it was, the letter. The letter from her brother that she had not read, yet. She pulled it out of her pocket and
with a heavy heart she sat down on the edge of the bed again. She hadn't intended to read it, but there she was
when Riley opened the door.
Riley had taken a super fast shower because she didn't want to to give Jordan much of a chance to disappear on
her. Riley really hoped to find out what was going on with Jordan, but at the very least she wanted to be there
for Jordan even if it meant being there quietly. Quiet wasn't her strong suit, but she would do it if she had to,
to be there for a friend. Friend, the word was a lie and Riley knew it, but all thoughts left her mind when she
found Jordan staring down at something so intensely. Jordan didn't make a move and Riley didn't make a sound. Riley
wrapped her robe a little tighter as she approached Jordan. Riley wanted so bad to ask what Jordan was reading,
but from the way Jordan seemed to be trembling she didn't dare. She sat down next to to Jordan and urged her to
lay down with her. Jordan kept a death grip on the paper as Riley cradled her. Riley could feel Jordan's pain without
a word and she wanted desperately to absorb it. Riley didn't understand why she was reacting so strongly to Jordan
since they had only just met really, but she knew she couldn't let go of Jordan even if it meant the life of her.
Her mind immediately blamed the abundance of alcohol she had consumed, but her heart was speaking volumes of it's
own and it was saying more about a shot at love then a shot of tequila. The word love didn't rattle her that much
because she loved things and people so easily. What did rattle her was the idea of not having a chance to find
out if love was even a possibility between them. She kissed Jordan on the forehead and hugged her closer. Riley
could hear the paper crinkly between them, but she gave it no further mind and instead just concentrated on providing
Jordan with comfort.
Jordan's grip on that paper began to ease the longer she was in Riley's arms, but the message from the letter was
burned into her mind. It was imprinted into the inside her eyelids. She squeezed them tightly closed as she drew
Riley even closer to her. Jordan wasn't sure how she would be able to make it through the night, but before she
knew it she had fallen asleep thanks to Riley's gentle embrace.
Riley woke and words flashed blurry before her eyes. She picked her head up slightly and found the paper Jordan
had been holding laying on the pillow next to her. She picked her head up a bit further and saw that the recipient
of that letter was sound asleep. Riley continued to eye Jordan and then she eyed the letter. She so wanted to snoop
and read the letter. It was obviously a very important letter with the way it had so deeply affected Jordan the
day before. She closed her eyes to the letter but not before she caught sight of the signature “With all my love,
Anthony.” Whoa Riley hadn't seen that coming. She all but jumped out of the bed and began pacing a bit as her mind
made quick assumptions. She stood at the end of the bed biting her thumb nail nervously while looking at Jordan
who was asleep on her stomach. Riley had been down this road before. She shook her head thinking about the last
time she had got involved with a woman who was trying to get over a man and it was not a pretty picture. It had
been the closest anyone had ever come to breaking her heart. She had given herself completely to that woman or
so she had thought and it was because of that, that Riley believed that no woman had the power to break her heart.
But they sure could mess with her head and she knew that to be more truth then anything.
Riley couldn't quite put the pieces together, mainly because she didn't have many pieces to work with. She looked
at the woman in her bed and her mind wildly speculated. Her mind raced back and forth between images of Jordan
with her and Jordan with a man. The latter just didn't seem to fit. Then it hit Riley that maybe she just didn't
want it to fit because she wanted Jordan and if Jordan was stuck on some guy then this was over before it ever
really began.
Jordan thought it was a dream just how well she'd slept, but when she listened to her body it confirmed the well
rested reality. Reality, it hit her and made her sit up right. Her hand landed on the letter and her eyes on Riley.
Riley looked freaked and if memory served her correctly Jordan thought she had every right to be. What a night.
What a mess. Jordan suddenly felt terribly uncomfortable in Riley's bed and without a word she got up, letter in
hand. She fumbled through words in her head, but none of them wanted to leave her tongue, but she knew she had
to say something, anything.
“Riley, I...”
Riley stopped her before she went any further. “It's OK, you don't have to explain.”
The situation really did warrant an explanation, but Riley wasn't ready to hear it and Jordan wasn't really ready
to say it.
“Should I go?” She paused, “I should go.” She stuttered, “Yea, I'm just going to go.”
Riley simply had no response. She let Jordan walk right out the door without a fight. Then again, she wasn't sure
there was anything to fight for, anyways.

Two days and nothing. Neither Riley nor Jordan had tried to get in touch with the other. Even if Riley had a
way of contacting Jordan she wouldn't have. It wasn't that part of her didn't want to. It was actually the fact
that she did want to pursue Jordan that made her stop and think. Jordan was obviously not in a good place and the
last thing Riley wanted was to become part of some love triangle. Riley was already worse for the wear just thinking
about that. She had slept horribly the last two nights. Largely in part because of dreams of Jordan, herself and
her minds creation of Anthony. Her all too vivid imagination had left her moody and annoyed.
“Honey, are you OK?”
Riley's thoughts were pierced by her mom's voice. Riley really didn't want to talk about it. Of course, that didn't
stop her mom.
“What's the matter, my darling?”
“I hate how you know me sometimes, mom”
“Honey, it doesn't take knowing you to see that something is wrong. You are not yourself and if I had to hazard
a guess...”
“Well, don't...”
“If I had to hazard a guess I would say it has something to do with Jordan.”
“Ugh, I told you don't, mom. Please, just listen to me this one time. I don't want to talk about it and I don't
want to talk about her.”
“Yes, you do.”
“No, I don't.”

Jordan sat in a chair in her barely furnished rent by the week motel room holding her camera repeatedly going through the images of Riley from that very first “accidental” photo to the ones of Riley washing Cheeto. Jordan felt both happy and sad as the images flashed across the screen. Her phone sat next to her with the number to Riley's shop on the Internet screen just waiting for Jordan to click send. She couldn't even bring herself to call to apologize. She had no idea why she felt that she owed Riley an explanation before she left town, but she just couldn't seem to muster the courage to call her. Never in all her disappearing acts from England and across the US did she ever explain herself before she moved on. She got frustrated and tossed her camera in her bag and headed out to get some fresh air hoping that would help.
#
“Can' I help you with something?”
The lady that Riley spoke to all but ran out of her shop door.
“Well, that was rude.”
“No sweetie, you were rude.”
Riley turned and looked at her mom who threw her hands up in a gesture of surrender showing she was not wanting
to battle.
“I just asked if I could help her.”
“No, you all but barked at her.”
“Damn.”
“Does that mean your finally ready to talk about it. Ready to talk about her?”
“No, but it does mean that we should close up shop and go shopping so I can get my mind off of it, off of her.”
“Well, let's get to forgetting, then.”

Jordan sat in the middle of the mall on a bench just observing the crowd. She had just sat down. It was an easy
place to be alone, but not really be alone which was just what Jordan needed. She needed to get out of her head
for a bit. She sat back and observed happy couples passing by and kids running wild on parents. There were the
groups of rowdy teens with the boys checking out the girls and the girls giggling and whispering. She really wasn't
a fan of shopping but she surveyed the stores around her, anyways. There was a book store, maybe she would pick
up a book or two for the road. There was a jewelry store, maybe she would have them do a quick clean of the rings
she wore along with the bar that pierced the top of her right ear. Then again, it wasn't like it was high end jewelry
warranting a cleaning. The clothing stores she didn't really give a thought to since she had enough clothes to
fill her duffel bag and that is all the baggage she traveled with physically. She stood to leave and as she turned
around she faced the store behind her. The pet store.
Riley and her mom never could seem to make it through the mall without stopping in the pet store. Riley always
wanted to see the new puppies and make sure they were all being cared for properly. She never fully trusted mall
pet shops. Once Riley saw they were all happy and healthy they exited the store laughing. Riley was looking at
her mom, but her mom was looking at Jordan.
Jordan was not a believer in fate, generally, but at the sight of Riley she was a believer for at least a moment.
Jordan felt like it was her now or never moment to talk to Riley. She took a step towards them just as Riley's
eyes followed her mom's shocked gaze. The second Riley's eyes landed on Jordan she banged her knee into the bench
as she cut the corner around it too closely. She winced in pain and like that Riley was by her side ushering her
back into a seated position onto the bench and kneeling in front of her. Riley had her hand massaging Jordan's
knee and her eyes locked on Jordan.
“Do you want me to kiss it and make it all better?”
Jordan was surprised by Riley's friendly banter after the way things had ended between them, last they were together.
Jordan placed her hand over Riley's without thinking. Riley immediately pulled her hand from Jordan's touch and
there it was. Jordan could see how her touch had triggered the confusion in Riley's eyes again. That same freaked
look Riley had in her eyes when she stood at the foot of her own bed. Jordan felt so foolish and was grasping for
words to try and make things right with Riley. Riley had been nothing, but sweet, kind and caring since the moment
they met. Jordan really didn't want to leave on bad terms with Riley. Jordan wanted to clear the air and leave
with a clear conscience.
“Can we get out of here?”
Jordan quickly realized those were probably the worst words she could have said considering those words are what
had her in such an awkward position with Riley, in the first place.
“I mean, can we take a walk and talk?”
